Washington is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The state is named after George Washington, the first President of the United States. Washington Territory was admitted to the Union as the 42nd state in 1889. It is also known as “The Evergreen State.” Washington borders British Columbia, Oregon, Idaho, and the Pacific Ocean. Significant business within the state include Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon.com, drugstore.com, biotechnology, aluminum production, mining, and tourism. |
