 Introduction
Arizona is known as “The Grand Canyon State” and “The Copper State” with the state capital designated as Phoenix. Arizona is located in the southwestern United States and is one of the Four Corners states. It borders New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, touches Colorado. Arizona has a 389 mile international border with Mexico. Arizona was the 48th state admitted into the U.S. in 1912. Arizona is home to The Grand Canyon which is a deep gorge, in northern Arizona. The canyon is one of the seven natural wonders and was created by the Colorado River over millions of years. It is about 277 miles long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles and about 1 mile deep. The 2005 total gross state product was $216 billion. The state's per capita income in 2004 was $28,658.
