Using rockets developed in Alabama man walked on the moon. Alabama is called The Heart of Dixie and the Yellowhammer state. The capital of Alabama is Montgomery and the largest city is Birmingham. Alabama is in the southern United States bordered by Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, and Mississippi. Alabama was readmitted to the union in 1868.
